Greiner Bio-One (Monroe, NC, USA) is presenting its innovative collection systems and safety products for venous and capillary blood and urine samples at AACC 2023. The company is also highlighting its research workflow solutions, including specialized products for the cultivation of cell cultures, microplates for high-throughput screening, biobanking solutions, and more.

At AACC 2023, Greiner is showcasing its new VACUETTE CAT Serum Fast Separator enables the complete clotting of the whole blood sample in just five minutes, offering a decisive time advantage compared to conventional serum tubes. By combining the speed of a plasma tube with the advantages of serum quality in terms of erythrocytes remaining after centrifugation, it considerably shortens the preanalytical process and saves enormous amounts of time. Thanks to the short clotting time of just five minutes, followed by centrifugation for five minutes, the analysis of key clinical chemical parameters can begin after just 10 minutes, allowing reliable results to be attained far quicker. This makes it easy to effectively reduce turnaround time (TAT) by 30 minutes per sample and targeted treatment can be initiated more rapidly.

Greiner is highlighting its Sapphire product family of pipette tips, filter tips, and low retention tips. Sapphire tips are manufactured in eight different sizes with volume ranges extending from 10 µl to 1250 µl, including an extended length 10 µl tip for the recovery of small sample volumes. To ensure optimal functionality and fit, Sapphire pipette tips are made of high-quality polypropylene. Greiner is demonstrating its magnetic 3D cell culture solutions based on the magnetization of cells with NanoShuttle-PL. The magnetized cells can be aggregated by magnetic forces, either by levitation or bioprinting, to form micro physiologically relevant 3D models in vitro. The magnetic system overcomes the limitations of other platforms by enabling the manipulation of cells for the rapid formation of spheroids, reproducible and scalable in size for high throughput, without restrictions of cell type.

Also on display at the Greiner booth is the new ThinCert 96 well HTS insert which is the optimal tool for scientists who want to generate tissue models (e.g., endothelia and epithelia) for transport, uptake, or co-culture studies in submersed as well as air-lift culture with an automation-friendly format. The two-component system comprises a 96-well porous membrane plate manufactured entirely from polycarbonate (PC) and a corresponding polystyrene (PS) receiver plate. The tissue culture-treated PC membrane allows for an ideal exchange of nutrients and substances, creating in vivo-like cultivation conditions to facilitate optimal cell growth, monolayer formation, and tissue differentiation.
