At Medlab Middle East 2024, Alifax (Polverara, Italy) is showcasing its innovative solutions designed to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in laboratory settings.

Visitors to the Alifax booth can discover firsthand the company’s automated solutions: the new Test1 2.0 ESR system, I-dOne for fast ID, Molecular Mouse RT-PCR & Sepsis panel, fast phenotypic MDRO screening, and more, all engineered to deliver precise results that drive better patient outcomes. The Test1 2.0 ESR system is a new generation instrument from Alifax that is designed for ESR determination in less than 20 seconds. The new and updated Alifax analyzer allows testing of the ESR rate and overcomes the majority of the variables and limitations of the classical sedimentation method, thanks to the capillary photometry technology.

Alifax is also highlighting I-dOne which uses ATR-FTIR technology to identify the bacterial spectra, which can be considered as the molecular fingerprint of microorganisms. I-dOne analyzes the spectrum produced by the interaction between intact microbial cells and IR light through the vibrational state of their chemical bonds. Each species produces a unique fingerprint-like FTIR spectrum. Results are reported as Microorganism ID along with a relative score that represents the reliability of the identification to known vibrational profiles of species present in the reference database.

In addition, Alifax is showcasing the Molecular Mouse RT-PCR & Sepsis panel which provides qualitative and fast analysis of target molecules through real-time PCR and ready-to-use cartridges. The Molecular Mouse system is the world’s first handheld platform for the Real-Time PCR. It uses ready-to-use lab-on-chip cartridges, with all lyophilized reagents in each micro-well, making it possible to perform up to six simultaneous multiplex reactions. Alifax’s Sepsis panel is the largest panel, with 64 different targets, for the rapid detection of microorganisms of major clinical relevance and their antibiotic-resistance genes, starting from positive blood cultures.
