Abbott Introduces GLP Systems Track Laboratory Automation Solution
By LabMedica International staff writers Posted on 22 May 2023 |

Abbott (Lake Forest, IL, USA) is participating in EuroMedLab-WorldLab 2023 where it is introducing GLP Systems, an innovative total laboratory automation (TLA) solution, offering proven technology with more flexibility and options to meet high volume needs.
Clinical labs are constantly on the lookout for solutions that can help them process an increasing number of sample tubes more efficiently, while simultaneously reducing costs and maintenance of their systems. A significant objective is to facilitate connectivity with a diverse range of instruments, which would help reduce both complexity and cost, and most importantly, simplify the decision-making process regarding automation. The GLP TLA system, which employs an automated sample delivery track system, handles an impressive 900 samples per hour end-to-end. This automation significantly cuts down turnaround time, positively impacting patient care, especially in critical care units. The system also includes a feature that limits direct contact with patients' blood samples, thus safeguarding the workers. It enhances efficiency through consistent sample management, thereby ensuring a more reliable and speedier laboratory service.
The GLP TLA system can markedly boost the efficacy of laboratory testing. A standout feature of this system is its multi-floor transport capability, which eliminates the boundaries between various departments and floors, thereby expediting the availability of test results for doctors. The GLP TLA system mitigates the risks associated with implementing a long-term solution, thanks to its innovative track design. Labs now have the flexibility to modify their track to accommodate future changes and can optimize floor space by evolving their labs from a 2D to a 3D setup. The system also alleviates the common difficulties associated with adopting a new automation system by minimizing the time needed for track implementation and offering more efficient service and training. The GLP TLA system allows labs to concentrate on crucial tasks by maximizing uptime with infinite redundancy, streamlining workflow, and reducing turnaround time.
