Ortho Clinical Diagnostics (Raritan, NJ, USA) highlighted its latest product portfolio at the 2019 American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo held Aug. 4-8 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, USA. Among Ortho’s products showcased at the event were its recently launched VITROS XT MicroSlides, the productivity-boosting VITROS XT 7600 Integrated System and the next-generation VITROS XT 3400 Chemistry System, which is in development and will offer greater productivity in a smaller lab footprint.

Ortho's VITROS XT MicroSlide is powered by advanced digital imaging optics technology that gleans significantly more information from each test than before, improving performance, saving time and space in the lab, and increasing productivity, with less patient sample required for testing. It allows labs to simultaneously perform two tests that are commonly ordered together from a single small blood sample, thus improving productivity and turnaround time, while simplifying inventory management and optimizing storage space. Ortho’s VITROS XT MicroSlides, which include VITROS XT UREA-CREA, TRIG-CHOL and GLU-Ca Slides, have received CE Mark and are available on the VITROS XT 7600 Integrated System.

The VITROS XT 7600 is a high-throughput integrated system for mid-and high-volume labs that combines automated clinical chemistry and immunoassay testing for a broad range of assays with thin film, dry slide technology which speeds throughput for selected assays. At AACC 2019, Ortho also highlighted its VITROS XT 3400, which is currently under development and is intended for smaller laboratories that do not require the full menu and full throughput of the VITROS XT 7600. The VITROS XT 3400 will also employ Ortho's dry-slide technology that eliminates washing and other steps, which can normally introduce errors in testing.
