The AC600 series of mobile PCR workstations provides an improved level of prevention against contamination while preparing DNA/RNA samples for amplification.

The ductless, hood-like workstation combines a Class 100 clean air environment with UV light sterilization for optimal protection from sample contamination, including from cross-contamination between samples. Features include built-in 254 nm ultraviolet lights for irradiation and HEPA filtration for a clean work area. Each workstation includes an interlocking bi-fold sash with a safety switch that automatically turns off the UV light and activates the blower and fluorescent light when the sash is raised.

Developed and released by AirClean Systems (Raleigh, NC, USA), these PCR workstations are available in 60.96 cm, 81.28 cm, and 121.92 cm widths. Standard on 81.28 cm and 121.92 cm wide models: a UVTect Microprocessor Controller maintains airflow to provide a clean Class 100 work area during PCR preparation. UVTect also allows the operator to digitally set the irradiation timer and lab-event timer to current application requirements. This microprocessor controller constantly monitors the effectiveness of the workstation and includes audible and visible alarms to alert the user of insufficient airflow and if the HEPA filter or UV bulb needs replacement. The user is also able to adjust the airflow manually, accommodating even the most fragile samples.

The unit offers innovative seamless UV-reflective Lexan construction with 360-degree visibility. The unibody design has overlapping parts to ensure that no harmful ultraviolet energy escapes the chamber during sterilization. The base is made of a custom extruded polypropylene blend that not only reflects ultraviolet energy but allows for easy cleaning between amplifications. AC600 Series PCR workstations are shipped fully assembled.
