A new evacuated blood collection tube for erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) analysis is manufactured from virtually unbreakable polypropylene plastic.

Until now, measurement of the ESR has been carried out in glass tubes; the conversion from glass to plastic blood collection tubes has made daily routine work for medical staff a lot easier and much safer.

Developed by the product experts at Greiner Bio-One (Kresmunster, Austria), the new evacuated blood collection tube for ESR analysis has other advantages. The surface of the new material features qualities for better mixing of the sample. There is a minimum-maximum level mark on the transparent plastic label, which ensures a correct fill volume and allows for immediate optical control of the sample's consistency.

Together with the new Vacuette MultiMixer the tube contributes to safe, efficient ESR analysis. In the Vacuette MultiMixer, the tube racks can be simply removed from the mixer arm by using the click mechanism. The mixer can be used as required to mix the new 9-mm polypropylene tubes, standard tubes, with 13-mm diameter or both tube types at the same time.
