Laser Microdissection Systems Are Ideal for Molecular Pathology

Two new laser microdissection systems are ideal instruments for dissecting live cells, single cells, and specific cell clusters for molecular pathology, biomarker research, and other applications. Additionally, high laser power allows the dissection of thick or hard specimens

The laser beam movement of these two Leica Microsystems (Wetzlar, Germany) instruments, called LMD7000 and LMD6500, is controlled by high precision optics; the microscope stage and the sample are both fixed. This allows precise cutting accuracy at high magnifications, as well as high cutting speed at low magnifications. Both are prerequisites to obtain homogeneous material for downstream analysis and reliable results.

The full two-screen support of the Leica Microsystems LMD software offers a horizontal pen-screen for drawing, and a second vertical screen for viewing.

Leica Microsystems is a global designer and producer of innovative, high-tech, precision optical systems for the analysis of microstructures. It is a leader in each of its business areas: microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy with corresponding imaging systems, specimen preparation, and medical equipment. The company manufactures a broad range of products for numerous applications requiring microscopic imaging, measurement, and analysis.
