Analyzer Offers Fully Automated HbA1c Assay for Diabetics

A fully automated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) assay can be performed on an analyzer that possesses whole blood pipetting delivery. The assay is suitable for diabetic clinics.

The analyzer is capable of performing up to 1,200 tests per hour and covers a broad 125-test menu that includes general chemistries, insulin sensitivity enhancers (ISEs), special chemistries, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDMs), and direct access testing (DATs). The system also accommodates pediatric sampling and can perform automated pre-dilution and immediate STAT processing without workload interruption.

Introduced by Olympus (Hamburg, Germany) for its AU680 analyzer, the new HbA1c assay eliminates the inconvenience and risk associated with manual pre-treatment for the routinely used blood-glucose monitoring test. With high-speed whole blood testing capability, laboratory professionals can attain even faster results and improved efficiencies with the AU680.

The introduction of complete HbA1c testing allows consolidation onto the recently introduced Olympus AU680 analyzer, making it not only cost-effective but also able to streamline workflow with faster repeats and reflex testing. Optimized to meet the latest performance and standardization requirements, the addition of the new HbA1c assay enables the AU680 system to deliver excellent, fully automated performance for diabetes monitoring.
