Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is showcasing liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) solutions at the ADLM 2026 Clinical Expo in Anaheim, California. At booth 1553, the company is presenting the Nexera QX Multiplex LC-MS/MS system and CLAM-2040 Automated Sample Preparation Module, which are designed to streamline sample preparation, increase throughput, and improve workflow consistency.

The Nexera QX Multiplex LC-MS/MS system uses multiple alternating sample-introduction streams to maintain continuous mass spectrometer operation. Its Multiple Stream technology eliminates waiting periods for column equilibration and system flushing, supporting faster analysis with low carryover.

Dedicated QX Solution software provides centralized control of the system’s multiple UHPLC streams and mass spectrometer. The software automates valve switching, gradient control, injection timing, and flushing, while online two-dimensional liquid chromatography supports automated trap-and-elute sample preparation.

Shimadzu is also displaying the CLAM-2040, which automates sample preparation for routine LC-MS analyses. By reducing manual handling, the system is designed to minimize operator error, improve result reproducibility, and enable continuous testing, including during nights and weekends.

Under optimized conditions, the CLAM-2040 and an LC-MS/MS system can deliver one result every 2.6 minutes. Laboratories can continuously add specimens and consumables, prioritize urgent samples without interrupting a batch, and use either established assays or internally developed methods.

The configurable platform can be adapted for future upgrades and paired with high-resolution quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry for broader screening applications. Through its ADLM exhibit, Shimadzu is highlighting automated and multiplexed technologies intended to improve productivity across clinical mass spectrometry workflows.
