MEDICA 2025 and COMPAMED 2025 kick off in Düsseldorf, Germany from 17 to 20 November 2025, bringing together thousands of exhibitors and tens of thousands of healthcare professionals from around the world. The events offer a comprehensive presentation of medical technologies, digital health solutions, diagnostics, components, and manufacturing innovations that shape clinical practice in the years ahead.

The trade fairs feature a wide spectrum of technologies across hospital and outpatient care, laboratory medicine, high-tech medical equipment, physiotherapy, orthopedics, and sports medicine. Complementing MEDICA, COMPAMED 2025 delivers a strong supplier-industry focus, showcasing microtechnology, advanced materials, manufacturing solutions, and essential technical components used in next-generation medical devices.

German Federal Health Minister Nina Warken and North Rhine-Westphalia Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann take part in the opening of the 48th German Hospital Day, delivering speeches in front of senior management from German hospitals. Under the motto “A new start for hospital policy – the courage to change,” this year’s event (held in Hall 10) brings together representatives from clinical practice, associations, politics, and hospital management to discuss the most pressing issues facing German hospitals.

Medical technology market conditions and rapid access to innovation also become key topics on Tuesday as EU Health Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi visits MEDICA 2025 and meets with CEOs from the medtech industry. On Wednesday, Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota and 2024 U.S. Vice-Presidential candidate, is expected to attend the event, underscoring MEDICA’s strong global relevance, particularly in the United States, which is represented by around 300 exhibitors.

Medical robotics is undergoing particularly dynamic development, reflected in exhibitor innovations and the MEDICA stage program. Robots are increasingly used not only in operating rooms but also in laboratories and logistics, including for blood sample handling and medication preparation. “The combination of robotics and artificial intelligence opens up many new possibilities, such as robot-assisted surgery based on AI-refined imaging,” says Michael Degen, Executive Director of Trade Fairs at Messe Düsseldorf. He notes the significant potential in this field and points to the publication Robotics in Healthcare, released at the MEDICA pre-press conference. Developed jointly by Messe Düsseldorf and the SPECTARIS industry association, the study provides perspectives on current advancements, research directions, regulatory frameworks, and market trends.

At MEDICA 2025, pioneering innovations with direct practical application are also being showcased at the newly launched MEDICA INNOVATION FORUM in Hall 12. The topics previously covered by the MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM are now integrated into this forum’s stage program. Top speakers and key opinion leaders, including digital health pioneer Daniel Kraft and Spiegel bestselling author and reporter Thomas Schulz, along with start-up competitions such as the 14th MEDICA START-UP COMPETITION and the 17th HEALTHCARE INNOVATION WORLD CUP, underline a clear message: MEDICA is the central hub for the full spectrum of digital health innovations, ranging from smart wearables and AI-supported diagnostics to micro-medical robotics.

The MEDICA START-UP PARK in Hall 12, now a well-established hub for digital health innovation, achieves record participation with around 80 start-ups. Participants include HeartHero (USA), Bottneuro (Switzerland), and Healex (Germany). HeartHero presents a portable, user-friendly AED that automatically defrbillates only when required. Bottneuro showcases “Miamind,” a custom 3D neurostimulation helmet for Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and depression. Healex introduces a digital platform that automates and simplifies the management and billing of clinical trials. “Hospitals lose millions every year because invoices for contract studies are not issued,” states Alexander van der Mey, CEO of Healex. “Our platform creates transparency and secures this revenue for the healthcare system.”

Across the various experience worlds, MEDICA 2025 reflects the industry’s most important topics, including AI and generative AI, robotics and automation, and networked care. In addition to exhibitor innovations across the full continuum of outpatient and inpatient care, a diverse stage program and specialized showcases contribute to the experience. The experience worlds include: Laboratory Technology and Diagnostics (with MEDICA LABMED FORUM in Hall 1), Medical Technology and Electromedicine (with MEDICA TECH FORUM and “Hospital of the Future” in Hall 10), Consumables and Disposables, and Physiotherapy and Orthopaedic Technology (with the MEDICA SPORTS HUB in Hall 4).

COMPAMED, which always runs in parallel to MEDICA, has developed into the world’s leading platform for the medical technology supplier sector. Around 750 exhibitors present an impressive range of high-tech solutions and innovations that help drive medical progress. The spectrum of supplier expertise, which is also explored across two program stages in Halls 8a and 8b, covers electronic components, microtechnology, advanced materials, clean-room packaging solutions, and complete contract manufacturing.

Trade visitors from more than 160 countries are expected to attend MEDICA 2025 and COMPAMED 2025. The strong international turnout is further reinforced by numerous high-level delegations from all continents.
