A new automation option now streamlines NGS library preparation steps to improve consistency and turnaround.

OGT, a Sysmex Group company, has introduced automation capabilities across its SureSeq next‑generation sequencing portfolio, designed for use with the Hamilton NGS STAR Line. Announced in Oxford, UK, in September 2026, the update targets high‑volume environments where maintaining throughput and meeting turnaround time goals are critical. The automation offering extends ongoing investment in SureSeq workflows.

According to OGT, the automation-enabled SureSeq workflows remove manual intervention at the most time‑consuming stages of NGS library preparation. By minimizing hands‑on steps, the system supports high‑throughput processing across multiple sample types and is intended to deliver faster, more consistent results without additional resource burden. Developed in close collaboration with laboratory partners and workflow specialists, the approach focuses on reproducibility and scalability in routine operations.

The automation is positioned to complement OGT’s hematological malignancy‑focused SureSeq panels, including the recently launched SureSeq Myeloid MRD Plus NGS Panel, for laboratories seeking streamlined targeted sequencing. The company frames the development within broader pressures on clinical research labs, where rising volumes have made manual library preparation a growing bottleneck.
