Hologic (Marlborough, MA, USA) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Reveal Genomics (Barcelona, Spain), a precision oncology company developing genomic diagnostic tests to help personalize cancer treatment. Reveal’s portfolio includes HER2DX, a test designed to support therapy optimization for patients with HER2-positive breast cancer.

Reveal Genomics develops diagnostic tools to help identify treatment options for patients with cancer, using laboratory techniques, computational applications, and machine learning to generate cancer research data. The acquisition remains subject to Spanish regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.

Breast cancer treatment increasingly relies on diagnostic tools that characterize tumor biology and support individualized care, including for patients with HER2-positive or hormone receptor-positive early-stage disease. The planned acquisition of Reveal Genomics would broaden Hologic’s capabilities in this area, complementing its existing oncology diagnostics portfolio.

That portfolio includes Breast Cancer Index, a guideline-recognized genomic assay that helps inform decisions about extended endocrine therapy in women with hormone receptor-positive early-stage breast cancer. Adding Reveal’s tests is expected to expand the diagnostic options available to support breast cancer treatment decisions.

“Reveal Genomics’ portfolio is a strong strategic complement to our existing oncology offering within Diagnostic Solutions and would allow us to support even more women diagnosed with breast cancer. This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to innovation and meaningfully expands our ability to inform breast cancer treatment decisions, directly advancing our purpose to enable healthier lives everywhere, every day,” said Vitor Rocha, CEO, Diagnostic Solutions at Hologic.

“We founded Reveal Genomics to bring precision oncology closer to patients and improve breast cancer treatment decisions. Joining Hologic gives us the scale and capabilities to accelerate that mission and reach many more patients worldwide,” said Patricia Villagrasa-Gonzalez, CEO and co-founder of Reveal Genomics.
