Digital Pathology Partnership Integrates Breast Cancer Diagnostic and Prognostic Tools
Posted on 16 Sep 2026
Breast cancer diagnostics rely on reproducible histological grading and timely interpretation of immunohistochemical biomarkers to guide therapy. Access to prognostic risk profiling can be limited by long turnaround times and the expense of gene expression testing, which can constrain use. A new partnership now links AI-based diagnostic and prognostic tools in a single digital workflow to address these challenges.
Aiforia (Helsinki, Finland) and Stratipath (Solna, Sweden) have formed a strategic collaboration to integrate the Stratipath Breast solution into the Aiforia Clinical Platform. The integration will allow laboratories to access both companies’ breast cancer AI applications through one streamlined workflow. The partners also plan joint go‑to‑market initiatives to broaden adoption among cancer care centers worldwide.
Aiforia Breast Cancer Suite provides a fully digital cockpit for breast cancer diagnostics, supporting the entire diagnostic workflow. The suite assists pathologists with histological grading consistent with the Nottingham Grading System and with assessment of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), Ki67, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) immunohistochemistry. Stratipath Breast is an AI-based prognostic risk‑profiling tool that analyzes cancer tissue to identify patients at increased or low risk of disease progression; it is already in clinical use and has been validated in large‑scale studies.
Regulatory alignment is specified for each solution. Aiforia Breast Cancer Suite is CE-IVD marked for diagnostic use in Europe and the European Economic Area. Stratipath Breast is aligned with regulatory requirements for clinical use in the European Union and the United Kingdom, and AI-based risk stratification enables faster turnaround times, provides new information at the point of diagnosis, and can reduce the need for expensive gene expression testing, allowing wider use and benefit to more patients.
“Stratipath Breast is an ideal addition to Aiforia’s Breast Cancer Suite, the most comprehensive diagnostic AI-solution in the industry for breast cancer diagnostics. Combining our solutions gives pathologists and oncologists faster access to validated, high-impact AI tools within a workflow they already trust. We look forward to our collaboration with Stratipath,” said Jukka Tapaninen, CEO of Aiforia.
“Behind every tissue sample is a person waiting to find out how aggressive their cancer is. Together with Aiforia, we bring risk profiling to more hospitals, delivering results in minutes rather than weeks. Precision diagnostics should be standard of care, not a privilege, and this partnership takes us a step closer,” said Fredrik Wetterhall, CEO and co-founder of Stratipath.
