Diazyme Laboratories, Inc. (Poway, CA, USA), a diagnostics company developing enzyme and immunoassay-based test reagents, has acquired the business of Carolina Liquid Chemistries Corporation (CLC, Greensboro, NC, USA). CLC is an FDA-registered manufacturer and value-added reseller of chemistry systems and reagents. Founded in 1994, the company provides chemistry products and solutions for clinical laboratories and will now be integrated into Diazyme’s operations.

The acquisition brings together Diazyme’s proprietary enzyme and immunoassay technologies with CLC’s portfolio of cost-effective chemistry systems and reagents. Diazyme develops diagnostic test reagents designed to run on automated chemistry analyzers and chemiluminescence instruments in user-friendly formats. The company is also a cGMP and ISO 13485 certified medical device manufacturer, supporting its focus on regulated diagnostic product development and manufacturing.

By integrating CLC’s business, Diazyme aims to strengthen its clinical chemistry offering and broaden its diagnostic solutions for laboratories.

The transaction builds on an existing relationship between the companies. Diazyme and CLC previously partnered to expand the test menu on the Diazyme DZ-Lite c270 benchtop clinical chemistry analyzer, adding additional assays and allowing the platform to support both routine and specialized chemistries. By integrating CLC’s business, Diazyme aims to further strengthen its clinical chemistry offering and provide laboratories with a broader range of diagnostic solutions.

“Carolina Liquid Chemistries’ cost-effective and reliable products will complement Diazyme’s proprietary enzyme and immunoassay technologies, creating synergies that will benefit laboratories of all sizes,” said Dr. Chong Yuan, Managing Director of Diazyme Laboratories. “This strategic acquisition positions us to enhance our diagnostic capabilities and deliver even more comprehensive solutions to reference and clinical laboratories and improve patient outcomes.”
