In a move to expand its market presence in China, Geomagic (Research Triangle Park, NC, USA), an international software and services firm, has opened a wholly owned subsidiary in Shanghai.

Geomagic (Shanghai) Software Co., Ltd. (Shanghai, China), was formed as a result of the increasing demand for Geomagic's software in the Chinese manufacturing market. Previously the company had a branch office in Shanghai to serve its customer base.

The new Geomagic subsidiary will provide sales, training, and support to customers throughout the region. Development and software testing are also performed in China. As part of its commitment to the Chinese market, all Geomagic software products, including Studio and Qualify, are available in the Chinese language. Geomagic software enables engineers and designers to transform scan data from physical objects into highly accurate digital models for applications ranging from digital shape reconstruction for mass customization and reverse engineering to computer-aided inspection.

Geomagic's software and services are used in the medical device market as well as the aerospace and consumer products markets.

"China is an evolving market, especially in the areas of design and testing,” commented Jerry Zhou, deputy general manager for Geomagic (Shanghai) Software. "We believe Geomagic solutions will contribute to China's developing economy by offering fast and cost-effective engineering and inspection solutions to a growing customer base.”
