Under the terms of an agreement with the Centre Technique de la Conservation des Produits Agricole (CTCPA, Paris, France), Genome express (Grenoble, France; www. genome-express.com) will perform molecular biology analyses on food products.

The CTCPA is overseen by the Ministries for Agriculture and Economy and Finance and its mission is to aid the agri-food industry in the areas of food safety, technical innovation, and quality management. This follows the introduction of new regulations covering product labeling in Europe.

Using its Gextrack DNA analysis services, Genome express will detect allergenic ingredients, authenticate a product, and detect and identify genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Genome express specializes in DNA analysis for customers in human and animal healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agri-food, and academic research. Among the company's services are DNA sequencing, food ingredient specification, and bacterial identification.

"Subcontracting the identification of food content and origins to DNA analysis specialists rather than doing it ourselves is clearly to the benefit of our clients,” said Didier Bombe, director of the analysis department at CTCPA. "This agreement extends the range of services we can offer and will also open up other interesting developments using Genome express's technology and know-how,” said Didier Bombe, director of the analysis department at CTCPA.
