Kits have been specifically designed for stat procedures and/or laboratories using manual histochemistry staining methods.

Neat Stains come in three different kits: a 3-step differential Hematology Stain, Gram Stain, and Trichrome Stain kits. The slides are immersed sequentially in each reagent for the correct time, air dried, and read. The staining materials are provided in self-contained foil sealed, prefilled multiwell containers with additional foils to reseal containers between uses.

The Neat Stain hematology kit involves a three-step procedure for differentiation of morphological cell types in peripheral blood smears. It can also be used in andrology labs for staining microorganisms and spermatozoa. Staining characteristics are similar to the traditional Wright's and Wright-Giemsa stains. The kit performs 150 tests, each with a three-dip staining sequence in both the stain and counter stain.

The Gram stain kit performs 150 tests, and it is used for staining bacteria from cultures or specimens by the differential Gram stain method.

The trichrome staining kit is for the staining of stool specimens. It is based on the Wheatley trichrome technique, which is a rapid staining procedure providing good results for routine examination. The kit performs 75 tests and uses a simplified method, which eliminates the need for a mordant before staining.

A durable slide holder can also be purchased that adjusts to hold 2-5 slides for easy processing.
The Neat Stain kits and slide holder are products of Polysciences Inc. (Warrington, PA, USA). The company manufactures specialty and fine chemicals, laboratory products, monomers, polymers, microscopy, histology, biotechnology, electronics, and specialty products
