A point-of-care hematology system, which combines centrifugation and analysis, now comes with reread functionality.

The QBC Star point-of-care hematology system is the simplest solution for patient bedside testing. The system utilizes Buffy coat analysis technology using Acridine orange as a fluorescent medium, and the dry reagents contained in the QBC Star tube facilitate testing and analysis without the liquid reagents and liquid waste of impedance. Combining centrifugation and analysis in one machine, the QBC Star offers a fully automated complete blood count (CBC) analysis in one simple step.

An upgrade allows the user to reread a sample that has already been spun and to assess precision as well as accuracy, as testing of the same tube can be repeated for confirmation of the results. Troubleshooting is also made easier as a tube can be removed from the Star, assessed and then placed in the analyzer again for a second run. All new QBC Star systems have this functionality, and older systems can acquire it via a simple software upgrade. The user therefore can reread a sample that has already been spun and assess precision as well as accuracy, as testing of the same tube can be repeated for confirmation of the results.

The QBC Star and QBC Autoread measure the clinically significant parameters most requested by physicians, and features of the QBC range include true Point Of Care, leading edge technology, venous or capillary sample, no liquid waste or reagents and no user maintenance.
