Compact Prenatal Screening System Expands Access to Preeclampsia Testing

Preeclampsia affects an estimated 2%–8% of pregnancies and is rising globally with increasing maternal age, diabetes, and hypertension. While international guidelines recommend screening, access often depends on centralized, high‑throughput laboratories, delaying results for patients served by lower‑volume sites. A newly launched system now brings rapid, decentralized biochemistry‑based prenatal screening into small and mid‑sized laboratories.

Revvity has introduced the SuperFlex prenatal screening system, a compact, CE‑IVDR certified immunoassay instrument for maternal and fetal biochemistry testing in lower‑volume workflows. Designed for clinics and small to mid‑sized laboratories, the platform aims to enable in‑house screening for preeclampsia where such testing has typically required referral to centralized facilities. The system is positioned to deliver high‑quality results while fitting the footprint and operational needs of decentralized sites.

The instrument employs random‑access immunoassay processing with continuous sample loading and is designed to deliver results in as little as 14 minutes per test. Operational features include a user‑friendly interface intended to reduce training requirements and minimize workflow disruption. SuperFlex integrates with Revvity’s LifeCycle software for streamlined risk assessment and laboratory information management system (LIMS) data transfer, and is engineered to avoid reagent wastage when sample volumes are low.

SuperFlex is CE‑IVDR certified and will initially be available in all markets that accept CE‑marked instruments. The platform includes a test menu that supports both first‑ and second‑trimester biochemical prenatal screening, providing a versatile option for laboratories expanding prenatal services. Availability is planned to broaden into Asia‑Pacific in late 2026.

“This SuperFlex offering represents a significant addition to our prenatal portfolio. By removing the financial and operational barriers to in‑house prenatal screening, we are giving more women access to potentially life‑saving testing regardless of where they receive care,” said Anna Godenhjelm, vice president and general manager of reproductive health at Revvity.
