Fisher to Acquire Perbio Science for $714 Million

In a move to strengthen the company's position in the life sciences market, Fisher Scientific International, Inc. (Hampton, NH, USA) has agreed to acquire Perbio Science AB (Helsingborg, Sweden) for about US$714 million.Posted on 10 Jul 2003
Perbio manufactures cell-culture and bioresearch products for protein-related research and drug production by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and medical research institutions. The Cell Culture division offers cell nutrition technology, process liquids, and sterile-liquid handling systems under the HyClone brand. The Bioresearch division concentrates on life-science research and drug-discovery tools marketed under the Pierce and Endogen brand names. Fisher Scientific, a manufacturer of laboratory equipment, plans to integrate Perbio's products and services into its global distribution franchise serving 350,000 customers in 145 countries.
