A multi-year agreement to work together to develop and implement image data management solutions supporting the proteomics processes of Roche has been announced by Roche (Basel, Swizerland) and Scimagix, Inc. (San Mateo, CA, USA).

Under the agreement, Scimagix will provide Roche with the technology to analyze, integrate, and track experimental data relating to protein expression, adding efficiency and speed to Roche's proteomics efforts. Initially, Scimagix will implement ProteinMine to detect and select proteins that can then be automatically picked and analyzed by mass spectroscopy (MS). Scimagix's open architecture will enable Roche to customize operating procedures and centralize information gained from processed 2D gels and MS data.

"For our activities in the proteomics area, we believe that Scimagix's image informatics technology will allow us to improve and augment procedures in our automated workflow,” said Hanno Langen, head of proteomics, Roche. "Scimagix's advanced spot detection and open architecture were other key factors in our decision to enter into this relationship.”
