New Software Integrates Bioinformatics Components

A new software program is designed to help scientists integrate and analyze molecular biologic data, using a range of methods

More than 100 methods of analyzing molecular data are currently available. Called UberTool, the new software enables users to combine these in complex procedures without the need for programming capability. In addition to the standard examples, users can create and save their own individual analyses. Based on their biologic content, the user's internal data as well as publicly accessible data are saved in the program. The software was developed by Science Factory GmbH (Cologne, Germany; www.science-factory.com). The company says biologists, biochemists, pharmacists, computer specialists, and bioinformatics experts can all work with this software and share both procedures and results with one another.

"The program combines the necessary components of a high-performance bioinformatics analysis system in a unique way: graphic programming, a flexible biologic object model, and the integration of public and proprietary data,” explains Olav Zimmermann, director of customer relations at Science Factory.
