The formation of a new molecular biology and recombinant protein expression services company has been announced by ComGenex, Inc. (Budapest, Hungary), a leading European provider of integrated drug discovery chemistry. The new company is called RecomGenex (also in Budapest).

The new firm will use proprietary technologies to provide a range of services, including cloning, expression, and purification of proteins through mutant protein design, and high throughput protein renaturation. RecomGenex will offer clients molecular biology services, technology access, and collaborative development. Proprietary technologies include XpressXpert for recombinant purification and ImprovEnz technology to generate custom protein mutants on order. RecomGenex has pioneered a protein renaturation process that increases the speed and yield of protein production.

"Now that the industry works on the sequences to express, we are able to contribute with experience and systems to achieve a functional product,” said Geza Ambrus-Aikelin, CEO of RecomGenex. "For the future, we expect our renaturation technology to bring a high-yielding, cost-effective platform for traditionally difficult sequence expression.”
