Biotech and other life sciences researchers working with RNA sequencing techniques will benefit from a recently introduced target enrichment system.

The Roche NimbleGen (Madison, WI, USA) SeqCap RNA Target Enrichment System for RNA-Seq applications includes a comprehensive lncRNA (long non-coding RNA) design and a full range of custom enrichment offerings including the SeqCap EZ Library.

The SeqCap RNA System was developed, in part, to provide a solution to the problem of increasing sensitivity to low-abundance transcripts without introducing any systematic bias. This was necessary, as a majority of the RNA-Seq reads are from a small number of highly expressed genes that mask genes present in low abundance.

The SeqCap EZ Library is a liquid-based enrichment technology, which enables the targeted capture for subsequent sequencing of the exome or a targeted subset of genes. SeqCap EZ Library is compatible with various sequencing chemistries and with the addition of the Caliper Life Sciences (Hopkinton, MA, USA) Sciclone NGS Workstation, provides a comprehensive high-throughput target enrichment solution.

“This is another step towards our goal of providing a complete solution to basic, translational and clinical researchers,” said Dr. Rebecca Selzer, president of Roche NimbleGen. “The SeqCap RNA products, together with the SeqCap EZ and Epi Systems, offer the genomics community comprehensive target enrichment tools for genomic DNA sequencing, bisulfite sequencing, and transcriptome research.”
