New Ultralow Temperature Freezers Maximize Protection While Minimizing Energy Use

A new line of ultralow temperature freezers offers the highest level of sample protection while introducing a series of energy saving innovations.

The Revco UxF series of freezers produced by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (Milford, MA, USA) has recently become available for biotech and life science laboratories.

The new line of freezers permits maximum sample storage capacity while minimizing the freezer's physical space inside the lab. Newly reinforced stainless steel shelves allow storage of up to 126 kg of samples (depending on freezer model).

Five polystyrene insulated inner doors help maintain cabinet temperature during openings and feature embedded rare earth magnets, eliminating exposed latches or magnets. The unit features an outstanding BTU reserve, which leads to fast door recovery times so that sample integrity is not compromised.

The freezers boast an easy-to-use intuitive on-board computer that incorporates an icon-driven touch-screen control panel for quick and easy access to a host of monitoring and control information. With a unique visual display, users can also gain an at-a-glance understanding of the health of the entire freezer, and thus the stored samples. The computer interface allows easy switching between the energy-savings mode with 15% lower energy usage and the high-performance mode for applications requiring ultra-tight temperature uniformity.

Several optional features are available including: liquid nitrogen and carbon dioxide back-up systems, chart recorder, stainless steel inventory-racking solutions, and a hands-free, proximity-card access system.
