State-of-the-Art Software Controls New Microscope Imagining System

Two bioscience companies have combined their expertise to create a high performance imaging system particularly suitable for cellular analysis studies.

Leica Microsystems (Wetzlar, Germany) and Molecular Devices (Sunnyvale, CA, USA) have announced the launch of their new Leica MM AF NX imaging system. This system brings together Leica Microsystems’ leading microscopy technology and Molecular Devices’ latest MetaMorph NX Software.

MetaMorph Software provides all the tools needed to perform meaningful analysis of images acquired by the Leica microscope. Common tools for thresholding, filtering, and feature extraction are included as well as other more sophisticated tools such as the integrated morphometry analysis (IMA) module. IMA allows objects to be measured and separated into user-definable classes, based on any combination of measured morphometric parameters, such as shape, size, or optical density. A point-and-click interface, linking images and spreadsheet results, makes it easy to choose representative objects for classification and measurement. All displayed images can be zoomed, paned, or scaled to any bit depth and colors can be assigned to channels for further investigation. Furthermore, the system automatically saves acquired images as well as measurement results, which can be accessed, reconfigured, and filtered at any time.
