Three new microbiology incubator models are now available for bioresearch, clinical, and pharmaceutical development laboratories.Posted on 18 Jan 2011
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (Milford, MA, USA) has launched the Heratherm line of 60-L, 100-L, and 180-L capacity microbiological incubators that includes three models: General Protocol, Advanced Protocol, and Advanced Protocol Security.
The General Protocol model relies on gravity convection to provide superior temperature uniformity, ranging from 5 °C above ambient to 75 °C. This model incorporates a unique airflow design, advanced microprocessor control, and an automatic over temperature alarm.
The Advanced Protocol incubators are equipped with a novel, dual convection system that operates from 5 °C above ambient to 105 °C and allows flexible fan speed setting from 0% to 100% for application versatility. A digital timer provides weekly, hourly, or real-time on/off cycles while an internal socket allows the use of equipment such as shakers and stirrers within the unit.
In addition to the technological features of the Advanced Protocol incubators, Advanced Protocol Security incubators incorporate over and under temperature alarm, as well as a lockable, alarmed door. In addition, the unit is capable of an independently certified 140 °C decontamination cycle.
All three models have a stainless steel interior and are equipped with an inner glass door that maintains temperature uniformity. An optional stainless steel exterior is also available.
