Preservation of delicate biological samples demands reliable and accurate maintenance of storage temperatures in refrigerators, freezers, and ultracold freezers.Posted on 10 May 2010
To meet this demand Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (Milford, MA, USA) has developed a new line of laboratory refrigerators and freezers that are to be marketed under the "Jewett” trademark.
This collection comprises 24 models ranging from 138 liters under counter models through to 1,500 liters upright models. These high performance instruments incorporate microprocessor control for precise temperature regulation and set-point security, enabling programming and locking of set temperatures to prevent unauthorized adjustments. All models are equipped with visual and audible alarms, backed up by battery, to alert the user of any fall in temperature below the desired setting.
The Jewett refrigerator line features adjustable shelves that may be easily removed for effective cleaning as well as ergonomic handles and self-closing doors that allow easy and efficient access to samples. The units are equipped with powerful industrial grade compressors and positive, forced-air circulation, which together ensure a rapid return to the set temperature even with frequent freezer access.
Thermo Scientific is confident that the Jewett line of refrigeration systems will provide high quality storage options for a wide variety of blood bank, plasma, pharmacy, biotech, and general applications.
