A new compact, small capacity CO2 incubator designed to take up a minimum amount of bench space is now available for cell culture researchers.

What the new incubator lacks in size, it more than makes up in hi-tech features. The Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (Waltham, MA, USA) Midi 40 CO2 incubator is capable of storing up to 35 T75 culture flasks. Being small and economical, it adds culturing capacity to crowded labs and reduces operational costs with a laboratory tool that is properly sized for small throughput needs.

As a single user incubator the Midi 40 is perfect for researchers who require separate, undisturbed incubation conditions due to the risk of contamination associated with shared incubators. The Midi 40's space saving footprint ensures reduced energy and gas consumption, as well as lower heat output.

Augmenting these economic benefits is the Midi 40's IntrLogic II user interface, which features a bright, highly visible vacuum fluorescent display and an easy-to-navigate membrane touchpad. The incubator incorporates a noncorrosive stainless steel chamber, with 40 liters of culture space, and a heated humidity pan to generate relative humidity values of up to 95%. The efficient direct heating design provides accurate temperature control with a uniformity of 0.1 ºC. The incubator is supplied with RS485 signal output for convenient data capture and includes an adjustable audible and visual alarm to alert the user to any significant changes to the incubation conditions.

Several Midi 40s can be stacked to minimize use of valuable bench space while maximizing incubator capacity.
