Database Giants Announce Strategic Partnership

Genomatix Software GmbH (Munich, Germany) and Molecular Connections Private Ltd., (Bangalore, India) recently announced the formation of a strategic partnership in the field of biotechnology information management.

Genomatix employs a multi-layer integrative approach that combines sequence analysis, functional promoter analysis, proprietary genome annotation, promoter sequence databases, comparative genomics, scientific literature data mining, pathway databases, biologic network databases, pathway analysis, network analysis, and expression profiling. Molecular Connections provides text mining, literature curation, and annotation services as well as products. It claims specific expertise in building knowledge bases for rapidly growing genomics, proteomics, and related areas.

The new partnership will fully integrate Molecular Connections Netpro database into Genomatix's biologic networks and pathway knowledge base and analysis system BiblioSphere PathwayEdition (BSPE). Netpro is reputed to be one of the largest expert curated databases of protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions in the world and contains highly granular contextual data on nature of interaction, pathways, diseases, location, plus pharmacokinetics information related to the interactions. BSPE's database is created from millions of individually modeled relationships between genes, proteins, complexes, cells, and tissues.
