Microscope Offers Micro/Macro Views

A new microscope combines maximum detection sensitivity at the lowest magnifications with a high magnification zoom for the resolution of fine details within organs, tissues, small organisms, or even cells.

With this MVX10 MacroView microscope, the user can clearly see fluorescent images of whole organisms right down to the cellular level with unprecedented brightness, resolution, and precision. The smooth stepless 10x zooming delivers brightness and resolution beyond the capabilities of conventional fluorescence stereo microscopes. This eliminates the need for switching between a stereo microscope and inverted or upright compound microscope during fluorescence screening procedures such as gene expression. From low magnification confirmation of gene expression, for example, to detailed observations of expression in cells at high magnification, the MVX10 is ideal for a wide range of uses.

Unlike standard stereo microscopes with two optical paths, the MVX10 is a mono-zoom microscope that uses a single, large-diameter optical path optimized to collect the weak light generated by fluorescence at all magnifications. This optical path provides an exceptionally high numerical aperture, enabling the unique brightness and increased resolution while retaining the working distance and wide field of view of stereo microscopes.

The MVX10 is the product of Olympus Corp. (Tokyo, Japan). The company introduced the MVX10 at Biotechnica in Hannover (Germany) in October 2005.
