Compact Flow Cytometry System

A new bench-top flow cytometer is an easy-to-use, affordable system for cellular analysis.

The Cell Lab Quanta flow cytometer, from Beckman Coulter (Fullerton, CA, USA), combines Coulter volume measurement, which is an established technique for discriminating populations of cells, with two-color fluorescence capabilities, allowing users to accurately count the number and size of cells for basic and advanced analyses. Quanta is well-suited for multi-color analysis, determining particle size, or for performing absolute counts. In addition, the system's small footprint and affordability make it suited for distributed testing in non-core laboratories.

"There are a number of researchers who send their samples to core labs that would like to be able to analyze their own cells,” noted Bonnie Anderson, vice president of Beckman Coulter's Cellular Solutions Business Center. "By alleviating the necessity for centralized testing of simple assays in core facilities, Quanta enables researchers to obtain their results faster and more economically.”

Quanta is part of Beckman's family of integrated cellular analysis solutions that prepare samples for analysis, identify cell characteristics, probe cell-signaling pathways, and sort cellular populations for further study.
