An integrated portfolio of laboratory software known as CyberLab will now be sold exclusively by Agilent Technologies, Inc. (Palo Alto, CA, USA), according to a recently announced agreement with Scientific Software Inc. (SSI, Pleasanton, CA, USA), which developed the system.Posted on 21 Jul 2004
Used by laboratories, chemical companies, and pharmaceutical firms, the CyberLab Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) is a web-based electronic library that collects, organizes, indexes, stores, archives, and shares electronic records. These include raw analytical instrument data and reports to compliance records; molecular drawings, pictures, and videos; MS Office documents; and PDF documents. CyberLab automatically extracts searchable data from each file and provides powerful search capabilities and embedded viewers for many file types. The system is designed to find information quickly and help users make more informed decisions. The company will market the product under its new family name, Agilent Cerity, to chemical, forensic, environmental, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, homeland security, and food markets.
"This will enable scientists to collaborate across laboratory operations, linking information from a wide range of analytical instrumentation and data sources,” said Jim Miller, director of software for Agilent's life sciences and chemical analysis business.
Under the agreement, Scientific Software maintains intellectual property rights to CyberLab ECMS and will continue to focus on new-product development as well as working with technology partners to develop integrations with enterprise applications such as LIMS (laboratory information management system) and other established vendors of analytical instrumentation.
