A new flow cytometer system is designed to support a full range of research-only applications in immunology, cell biology, and drug discovery.Posted on 25 May 2004
The cytometer has high-sensitivity optics, extremely low sample-to-sample carryover, and rapid processing rates of up to 10,000 events per second. The total benefit consists of high fluorescence sensitivity to resolve dim events, cleaner data due to minimal sample contamination, and high processing speed. From BD Biosciences, a segment of Becton, Dickinson and Company (San Jose, CA, USA), the system is called the BD FacsCanto. The company says it overcomes obstacles known in rare event analysis and in functional studies for low detection ranges. The system is for research use only, not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
"The BD FacsCanto system was designed using 30 years of experience and expertise in flow cytometry from BD Biosciences,” said Jeanne Brosnan, vice president, marketing, at BD Biosciences. "The BD FacsCanto flow cytometry system is yet another technological innovation from a world leader in cell sorting and analysis.”
