Nova Biomedical (Waltham, MA, USA) showcased its advanced point-of-care (POC) capillary blood analyzers at MEDLAB Middle East 2021, alongside other products such as POC meters for glucose testing, renal function monitoring and lactate testing.
At this year’s MEDLAB Middle East, Nova exhibited the StatStrip Glucose, which is the only glucose meter cleared by the US FDA for use with critically ill patients, that achieves superior accuracy with no clinical interferences. StatStrip is designed specifically to measure and correct for clinical interferences that can be present in critically ill patients. Nova also showcased the Stat Profile Prime Plus that combines blood gases, electrolytes, metabolites, CO-Oximetry, and 34 calculated results in a simple, compact critical care blood gas analyzer. Prime Plus combines maintenance-free, component cartridge technology for sensors and reagents with patented, new, maintenance-free, and non-lysing whole blood CO-Oximetry technology.
In addition, Nova showcased Allegro, a compact, point-of-care (POC) analyzer that features a clinically important menu of 10 measured and individually selectable tests, plus seven calculated tests. All tests are measured with disposable, ready-to-use cartridges or test strips, and are easily performed by non-technical personnel. Allegro uses a very small capillary blood drop for all blood tests, which eliminates the need for venipunctures or a trained phlebotomist. With cartridge test times of six to nine minutes and the ability to measure two cartridges simultaneously, Allegro provides rapid results.
Also on display at the event was the EMS Stat, a portable system for A&E use for GLU, KET, LAC, Hb, and HCT testing. Stat EMS can measure lactate, hematocrit, hemoglobin, glucose, and ketone from a capillary blood drop. Results are available in seconds by using single-use biosensors and portable meters. Stat EMS offers simple, fast, and accurate testing in the field. These tests can also help determine the appropriate transport site for patients with trauma, sepsis, or other specialized needs.
