AACC 2012: South Korea joins a global network informing patients about lab tests.

Lab Tests Online-KR (South Korea), the South Korean version of the award-winning patient education website, Lab Tests Online, was launched at the annual American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) meeting held in Los Angeles (CA, USA) July 15-19, 2012.

The new website was developed in partnership with the Korean Society for Laboratory Medicine (KSLM). During the last year, a team of KSLM editors translated the content found on the US version of Lab Tests Online and adapted it to Korean policy and practice.

“Lab Test Online welcomes KSLM to the international community of laboratory professionals who are committed to helping patients understand this vital aspect of medicine,” said D. Robert Dufour, MD, executive editor of Lab Tests Online. “With the addition of South Korea, Lab Tests Online will continue to improve health literacy and patient outcomes around the world.”

Yeo-Min Yun, MD, director of public relations and publications of KSLM commented, “The patients as well as the doctors and laboratory scientists of Korea will all benefit from this new partnership.”

Based in Washington DC (USA), Lab Tests Online is considered a global standard for patient education. Lab Tests Online has sites active in the native language of almost one-third of the world’s population. Countries where Lab Tests Online has been localized include the US, China, Brazil, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey, UK, and Australia.
